How much space do I need per guest?
A seated dinner needs roughly 13–14 sq ft per guest. Add a dance floor and that rises to about 19 sq ft per guest, plus more for buffet stations, a bar, or sharing the room with the ceremony. This calculator adjusts the per-guest allowance based on the options you select.
How many guests fit at each table?
A 60-inch round comfortably seats 8, a 72-inch round seats 10, a 6-foot rectangle seats 6, and an 8-foot rectangle seats 8. We use those counts to work out how many tables you'll need for your guest list.
What if my guest count is over the venue's capacity?
The space check will flag it. Your options are a larger venue, a trimmed guest list, or moving the dance floor and bar into an adjacent area to free up room. If you're within about 90% of capacity, it can still work with a careful floor plan.
Does the ceremony share the reception room?
If yes, toggle that on — it adds overhead for ceremony seating and a room flip. Plan a cocktail hour to cover the changeover so guests have somewhere to be while the space is reset.
